Originally known as the Machinery and Allied Products Institute, MAPI was formed as a result of the Depression-era National Industrial Recovery Act. Its purpose was to help stabilize the machinery industry at a time of unprecedented stress. Pennsylvania Association of Automotive Trades (formerly Pennsylvania Gasoline Retailers Association and Allied Trades) is a non-profit trade association formed in 1982 to represent members’ best business and political interests, and promote the advancement of all persons engaged in the service station, convenience-store-with-gas and automotive repair shop industries.
