Certification: First Aid, CPR, and AED certification issued by the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross (ARC) Certification is a course designed to educate and train lay rescuers on how to respond to medical emergencies through early activation of “911” systems and the use of first aid, CPR, and an AED. Through lecture and hands-on training, this course prepares lay rescuers to effectively and safely respond to a person suffering from cardiac and respiratory arrest and other medical emergencies. Participants are taught how to recognize signs and symptoms of adult cardiopulmonary arrest, medical and traumatic emergencies.
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Course Topics
The First Aid/CPR/AED Course is designed to teach the basic techniques of adult CPR. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of major emergencies including heart attack, stroke, sudden cardiac arrest and choking. Each student will have ample opportunity to use a training mannequin for individual practice of CPR skills. In addition, the CPR portion of the course is based on current ARC guidelines and addresses:
- What to do before giving care and checking an injured or ill person
- CPR and cardiac emergencies
- When and how to use an AED
- Breathing emergencies
- Environmental emergencies
- Injuries to muscles, bones and joints
- Asthma
- Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto-Injectors
- Injury prevention and emergency preparedness

Brit is a Basic Life Support Instructor Trainer and a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Trainer.
Certification
Each attendee completing the course will receive a wallet card for certification in First Aid, CPR and AED use issued by the American Red Cross which is valid for twenty-four months.
