Course Description

Join us for a 16-hour in person Fall Protection / Competent Person Training course. This training will provide instruction and training for participants to become an OSHA-compliant (29CFR1926) competent person (CP) in the construction industry. This course is designed for employees tasked with identifying, controlling and correcting fall hazards in the workplace. The course will include a focus on fall protection applications and fall protection plan requirements. CMI will conduct this training in-person from our office in Lansdale, PA. The course will include classroom discussion, workshop activities and hands on equipment demonstrations.

Training Topics

  • Federal regulations associated with fall hazard and fall protection
  • OSHA, ANSI and all applicable regulations regarding the properdonning, inspection, care, maintenance, storage, and documentation of fall protection equipment
  • Fall hazard assessments
  • Fall hazard elimination and control means via hierarchy of controls
  • Active v. Passive Controls
  • Fall Restraint v. Fall Arrest
  • Selection of properly rated anchor points and fall protection components
  • Roles and responsibilities of Authorized Persons and Competent Persons
  • Fall protection equipment inspections
  • Fall clearance calculations including facility-specific permit requirements
  • Fall protection for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
  • Rescue requirements and plans

Your Presenter

Michael Brantley specializes in safety and risk management across construction and general industry. With over 30 years of experience, he develops and implements health and safety programs, conducts site audits, and ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT regulations. His expertise includes reducing incident rates, managing workers’ compensation claims, overseeing safety training, and coordinating with insurance carriers. He has extensive experience with multi-contractor projects, regulatory compliance, and safety program development.
